Help Us Help Her
Tippy, a small, white pomeranian mix, was turned in to Huntsville Animal Services with a painful, injured leg. A New Leash on Life took her into our foster and adoption program and had Dr. Newman assess her leg. He found that she has a fractured and dislocated hip which will require surgery. So we are raising money in our Marigold Fund to help cover the surgery costs. If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to help her, you can use the paypal link on our website or mail a check to P.O.Box 221, Brownsboro, AL 35741.

Trying to save more lives is one of our main goals at A New Leash on Life, Inc. Spaying and neutering is the other. Each week during the summer, A New Leash on Life is offering a special deal on different colors or breeds of cats and dogs. We don’t believe that pets have a monetary value. They are not possessions or toys to be bought, sold, or thrown away. They are wonderful, living, breathing, creatures who are deserving of the best life can offer! And many are dying in the city shelter each day, because they are not adopted. Spaying and neutering is the most important part of the solution to this problem. But second to that is getting them out of the shelter and into one of our foster homes so the public can come to our adoption days at Petsmart to see them, touch them, spend time with them, and fall in love with them! It really works! The volunteers see this in action each Saturday at Petsmart.
So, to find more adoptive homes, we are offering these special deals on some very special pets! We will not lower our standards for adoption, only our adoption donation requirements. You must be able to afford proper vet care for the life of the pet you are adopting, however, so one of our adoption counselors will help you decide if adopting is right for you! We sure hope it is! Then YOU can be part of the solution and help us save more lives!
Send us an email to pets@anewleash.org to sign up for our New Leash Newsletter, published weekly, and you will get a heads-up on the upcoming specials! And come down to the Jones Valley Petsmart on Saturdays (and Market Place Wed through Sat) to meet these awesome creatures…one is there waiting to love you unconditionally!

When you walk into the Market Place at 707 Andrew Jackson Way, you might think to yourself that the things for sale there are nice, clean, and even beautiful! But the true beauty of the Market Place is not the stuff inside…the beauty is in the pets whose lives are being transformed because of it. Dedicated volunteers working hard every day are raising money to directly help dogs and cats whose lives depend on it! In particular, we were able to save 29 new pets this past week! These 29 dogs and cats were fully vetted and placed in approved New Leash foster homes…they are safe and loved and awaiting their forever homes!
Each day, we continue to be blessed with great donations, great shoppers, lots of kind words and support, and pets who fill our lives with JOY! This Saturday, in celebration of July 4th, we are having a storewide sale! 25% off EVERYTHING in the store, plus other items discounted even more. Come down and shop from 11 to 4 and you will see the TRUE beauties…the adoptable dogs and cats at A New Leash on Life!

At A New Leash on Life, we do not believe that pets are possessions, although the law considers them such. Our philosophy is that they are our companions, our friends on this earth, and they have no monetary value. Our adoption fees for cats and dogs are merely a way to pay each pet’s vet bills and make sure their adopters can afford a lifetime of vet bills. They are not “sold” as possessions. They are adopted out to homes that are screened to make sure the pet and home are compatible.
This summer, we are trying something new with our adoption fees! Each week, we will offer a different special deal on certain cats and dogs in our program for qualified applicants. And this weekend, if you are looking for a chocolate dog or black cat, you’re in luck! We will be offering them at reduced donation amounts, but our standards for forever homes will not be reduced.
Chocolate Dogs/Puppies will be $50
Black Cats/Kittens will be $25
Some of our chocolates include Starbuck (pictured above), Lady Cara, Miss Penny, Lucy (light chocolate), and Carl T. has chocolate highlights!
Some of our black cats are Pretty Girl Stella (pictured below), Alli, Sami, Bombonita, Noah, Truffle, and Wimberly has alot of black.
Adopting a pet is a life-long commitment. Please carefully consider adoption of a pet.
Come see our dogs and cats Saturday at our Market Place, 707 Andrew Jackson Way, and Petsmart in Jones Valley.

Many senior pets have a hard time in the hottest and coldest months of the year…especially if they are not allowed indoors. This summer, many will experience weakness, sickness, and dehydration, and some will end up in shelters because their owners don’t have enough money to have them vetted.
A New Leash on Life would like to help more of these deserving senior pets by providing foster care and veterinary care for them in their last years or months of life.
George Senior, pictured below, is a prime example of a little, old man who ended up in a kill shelter with many, many health needs. He was dehydrated, un-neutered, deaf, weak, and had an injured leg and an enlarged prostate. And that was just the beginning of his ailments! A New Leash on Life rescued him, had him vetted, and placed him in an approved foster home to begin the best days of his life! He has since been adopted by his foster family and is doing remarkably well with the proper nutrition, vetting, and lots of love!
If you are interested in helping with the New Leash Senior Pet Project, email pets@anewleash.org or call 256.489.PETS. The more volunteers we have on this team, the more sweet, old girls and boys we can help!
