TaterTot Rescued from Icy Waters

TaterTot, a senior sheltie mix, was lucky Mike was driving by Brahan Springs when he was trying to swim out of an icy pond and couldn’t.  He had jumped in after some geese, but quickly began suffering from hypothermia, and almost died in the water.  Mike jumped out of his van when he saw the dog jump into the pond and start struggling in the ice.  He said the dog had given up hope, started crying even, and he got a rope out of his van to try the laso technique.  Thank goodness, he somehow got the rope around the dog’s neck and drug him to shore.  He had never lasoed anything before!

Off to the vet they went,  as Mike was determined to do all he could for this wonderful, old dog he had just met.  And the vet took good care of him and sent him home with Mike.   What a wonderful, wonderful man!!!  We are so thankful for people like Mike…they make the world a better place.

TaterTot, as we named him, is now in A New Leash on Life’s unique foster and adoption program and will be fully-vetted and put up for adoption…someone’s gonna be mighty lucky to get this one!  Email pets@anewleash.org if you would like to meet him.
