Foster Home Found for Mom Who Gave Birth in a Mercedes
This sweet and friendly mom wanted a safe place for her kittens, so she climbed into a parked Mercedes to give birth. Homeless, unspayed/un-neutered animals often find themselves in precarious situations like this, and they do their best to find safety for their offspring. This mom found a pretty good spot! Nice leather interior, very clean (it is for sale on a lot), and safe from the heavy traffic flowing right by the car lot.
So, after searching for a SAFER place for her to go, we found one. She is safe in a New Leash foster home where all her needs are met. She sure had some cute kittens! When they are old enough to be spayed and neutered (around 10 weeks), they will be adoptable. Each kitten will come spayed/neutered, MICROCHIPPED, fully vaccinated, dewormed, and tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV.
If you are interested in fostering cats or dogs, please fill out the foster home application on our website and email it to pets@anewleash.org. All vet bills are paid by ANLOL. Foster homes provide food, water, shelter, transport, and LOTS OF LOVE. Fostering is alot of work, but it’s very rewarding.

A KITTEN EXPLOSION has occurred! In the last few weeks we have taken in 38 kittens and cats (mostly kittens) who were homeless and/or unwanted. Spaying and neutering would have prevented these, and millions of other homeless and unwanted dogs and cats who are born every day in our country. Please spay and neuter your pets …. well, have a licensed veterinarian do it. You will be glad you did, and your pet will to! Download a 1/2 price coupon from our Spay/Neuter Page.
All of these kitties, like our other foster pets who are awaiting adoption, will be spayed, neutered, MICROCHIPPED, vaccinated, tested, dewormed, etc. and they will be waiting for YOU to come down and pick a few out. They make wonderful companions!
We invite you to bring all your friends and come to our Jones Valley Petsmart adoption events, Saturdays from 2pm to 6pm , in the back of the store (it’s too hot outside now) to see our wonderful pets for adoption. They are all housed in approved foster homes before adoption, so we can care for them in a home setting and get to know them. Fostering is a wonderful way to share your home and love with a homeless dog or cat . Email pets@anewleash.org if you would like to foster with us!

A kitten this small is lucky to be alive after being hit by a car. Her pelvis and one of her back legs were crushed, but she kept on purring. She was unwanted after this happened, so her owner turned her over to a vet. A New Leash on Life was contacted to help with this precious little one, and we are happy to say that she is doing better. Her back leg had to be amputated, but she will hopefully be able to live a normal life from now on……she has a New Leash on Life!!!! We are in the process of raising money to cover her vet bills, and we will be using some of the Angel Tree money to do so. Please support our Christmas Charity. Read the Angel Tree announcement below and go to one of the locations to donate. It will make a difference in the lives of homeless and abandoned animals in our community. Thanks!
Angel Trees
This holiday season, A New Leash on Life, Inc. will have angel trees at businesses around Huntsville for people to see and donate to. Pictured on each Angel Tree will be many homeless dogs and cats that live in foster homes and are awaiting forever homes. Many thanks to the following businesses who allow us to display these trees in their stores:
- Complete Care Animal Hospital in Hampton Cove behind Publix
- Valley Animal Hospital on Bailey Cove Road
- Allegro Dance Academy on Whitesburg Drive
- Petsmart on Carl T. Jones Drive (only on Saturdays from 12 to 4)
Please stop by one of these locations and look at pictures of all of our homeless angels hanging from the trees. If you make a donation of $10 or more toward one of our angels, you will receive a unique dog-bone ornament or a fun cat toy ornament to take home and place on your own tree, in honor of your angel.
