Duct Taped Kitten

August 21st, 2010

A New Leash on Life took in this small kitten today who had been wrapped in duct tape and turned in to the emergency clinic.  The tape was removed, leaving open wounds and raw skin…an aweful sight, but that didn’t slow the little fella down.  He has a great attitude and with several treatments and wraps, he will be as good as new.  Thanks to Valley Animal Hospital for taking him in on a moment’s notice for us.  He’s in very good hands!  Next week we will need a foster home for him to go to for living, loving, and healing.  Email pets@anewleash.org if you would like to help this little guy.

Topple – 2 Broken Legs and a Heart of GOLD!

August 15th, 2010

A good Samaritan saw Topple get hit by a car and stopped to pick her little, black body up off the street.  She survived the accident and was turned in to the Animal Emergency Clinic with two badly broken legs.  She was x-rayed, stabilized, and then turned over to A New Leash on Life.  She’s going to need orthopedic surgery, time to heal, lots of love, and a FOSTER HOME!

Topple is a curious, smart, little girl, about 10-12 weeks old, and she really does have a HEART OF GOLD!  Helping her is what it’s all about!  Help us help her!

If you would like to donate to help with Topple’s surgery, please go to www.anewleash.org/donate and you can donate via paypal.  Just put “Topple” in the comment section.  Or send a check to ANLOL, 707 Andrew Jackson Way, Huntsville, AL  35801.  And if you’d like to help her by being her foster mom or dad until she recovers, please email pets@anewleash.org.

Help Us Help Her

August 7th, 2010

She needs our help...

Tippy, a small, white pomeranian mix, was turned in to Huntsville Animal Services with a painful, injured leg.  A New Leash on Life took her into our foster and adoption program and had Dr. Newman assess her leg.  He found that she has a fractured and dislocated hip which will require surgery.  So we are raising money in our Marigold Fund to help cover the surgery costs.  If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to help her, you can use the paypal link on our website or mail a check to P.O.Box 221, Brownsboro, AL  35741.

Special Deals for Special Pets

July 19th, 2010

These little ones need our help URGENTLY!

Trying to save more lives is one of our main goals at A New Leash on Life, Inc.  Spaying and neutering is the other.  Each week during the summer, A New Leash on Life is offering a special deal on different colors or breeds of cats and dogs.  We don’t believe that pets have a monetary value.  They are not possessions or toys to be bought, sold, or thrown away.  They are wonderful, living, breathing, creatures who are deserving of the best life can offer!  And many are dying in the city shelter each day, because they are not adopted.  Spaying and neutering is the most important part of the solution to this problem.  But second to that is getting them out of the shelter and into one of our foster homes so the public can come to our adoption days at Petsmart to see them, touch them, spend time with them, and fall in love with them!  It really works!  The volunteers see this in action each Saturday at Petsmart.

So, to find more adoptive homes, we are offering these special deals on some very special pets!  We will not lower our standards for adoption, only our adoption donation requirements.  You must be able to afford proper vet care for the life of the pet you are adopting, however, so one of our adoption counselors will help you decide if adopting is right for you!  We sure hope it is!  Then YOU can be part of the solution and help us save more lives!

Send us an email to pets@anewleash.org to sign up for our New Leash Newsletter, published weekly, and you will get a heads-up on the upcoming specials!  And come down to the Jones Valley Petsmart on Saturdays (and Market Place Wed through Sat) to meet these awesome creatures…one is there waiting to love you unconditionally!

When we adopt one out, we can save him, too!

Smooch Atop His Perch

Managing an artist is tough work, but somebody has to do it! Smooch lives in an art studio where he can keep a close eye on his artist friend. He looks over her as she’s painting from atop his favorite perch. He carefully watches the brush go back and forth from palette to painting, then offers an inspirational kiss on his artist’s nose when she pauses to reflect. The creative life isn’t for everyone but Smooch has found his niche. He’d like a forever home where he can continue to inspire. Email pets@anewleash.org for an appointment to meet Smooch, the artist assistant.
