The firefighters had given up hope that this new mama dog’s pups had survived their home burning down.  The mom was safe, but sad to have lost her puppies.  A neighbor across the street from the abandoned house decided not to give up hope after the firefighters left, and she took the mama dog to search for them.  Amazingly, the six little black and white wiggle worms, whose eyes were not yet open, were found safe under some floor boards inside and the little family was reunited!

Now we need donations for their care and a safe FOSTER HOME … anyone have a spot in their home and heart to care for them?  Email pets@anewleash.org if you’re interested.   Sparkle, Blaze, Flint, Torch, Burnie, and Hot Tamale will need to nurse for another 4-5 weeks before they will be weaned.  Mom’s name is Tandie, an Old Norse name for fire.
