A great time was had by all at the Halloween Birthday Bash for A New Leash on Life, held at the Dog Park in downtown Huntsville. New Leash volunteers celebrated 5 years of service to the community’s homeless animals and over 2000 dog and cat lives saved. Lots of New Leash adoptees were brought to the park to celebrate. The costume contest drew a big crowd…there were clowns, hot dogs, prisoners, cowboys, a ballerina, a fireman, pirates, a black bear in a dress, and even a one-eyed chicken in the contest. Costume judges were Mayor Tommy Battle, Liz Hurley, and Dr. Karen Hill-Sheppard. Dog-edible birthday cake was served to the canines and there was a human cake for the two-legged creatures attending the party. Adoptable dogs ran freely around the park sporting green bandanas saying “ADOPT ME” and a few of them did find forever homes. Adoptable cats were there, too, safely in a tent outside the dog area. Andrew with PerfectedPerspectives.com was our pet photographer, donating all proceeds to A New Leash on Life. What a day! What a celebration for the animals! Special thanks to all the volunteers who worked hard to make this a special day for ANLOL. We are excited to begin our second 5 years now! New volunteers and foster homes are welcome and needed!
